Did you try and keep the crown reasonably balanced during the dismantle?

 

Yes, was fairly careful to start with as I fully expected a fair bit of movement, but there really was very little.

The job was priced for just over 2 days, but fortunately the neighbours (one of whom is an old client) wanted work doing which I costed at 1 day. We were there for 3 days, so made good money with the bonus of about 9 tonne of nice size Beech firewood.

 

The deal was than any amount of brash and timber could be left on the clients side of the river, so we took the timber we wanted and burned the brash from the river side.

 

It was a job that just went really well, ever the weather was in our favour

The trunk will sit where I felled it and provide a home for all manor of wildlife:thumbup1:

 

Not many mills would even want a butt of that size, Beech is not rare and smaller butts produce most of the timber buyers want at much lower cost.

Yeah, burn up is alway a bonus, especially this time of year

 

Yes the crane will reach well beyond the chipper, so we often move brash with it when needed.

that first pic doesn't show the scale very good until you stand a man next to it thats a fair size lump of a tree

Looks a big interesting job Dave , it's a shame this flooding has done so much damage to trees with land slides they recon the banks of rivers and burns will be moving for months or years up north with the damage..it is that bad!

What was the height of the tree? it was certainly chunky.
