I've tried smallish stuff and it smoked quite bad it was more to see what other peoples experiences were with a gasifying boiler thanks for your reply

I understand, thats why I did not send you a mail.

TBH I don't see the effect all the time, the already existing fire has to be burning a certain way for it to happen. Obviously a wood gassifier would give the right conditions 100% of the time.

I bought one just before Xmas. Slower than the chipper, but at end of day you have a saleable item. No good for leylandii etc.

Instead of chip, I got 38 bags of a smallish sycamore. Am using it tomorrow on ash. Not a full time replacement for the chipper, but a useful item

My little wood burner thrives on those 3" pieces that I salvage when I'm cutting wood and they give good heat as well as getting more in the stove as you can pack them round the bigger pieces. They have to be seasoned but they are ready quicker than the bigger chunks as well.

I first came across these a couple of years ago and thought that it would be a good idea for when brash has to be brashed down on a site and left in windrows as habitat cover! the logs that came out weren't too aesthetically pleasing and the brash was a bit messy to store until they leaves had gone etc. but it is an interesting concept. The rollers wood have to be massively strong as is the gearbox that drives them.
