Whats the worst thing you've done to your rope?

I cut my line fairly bad earlier in the year, it was pretty poor, had to feed the nasty bit through the zz. Was pretty busy and did not get chance to pick up a new one.

 

It did look a mess, but we all know our ropes a way stronger than required and will be just fine with a fair bit of damage.

 

I dismantled a biggish Eucalyptus for a guy, he was very pleased, no damage to his lawn, walls, hedges etc. He was very complimentary of my work, but he did say " I've an old tow rope in the garage if you need it??, it looks better than your rope" :blushing:

Makes you wonder why it failed loler if it can still pull chippers about..

 

Usually a few silky nicks or going stiff seems to be when they fail

it seems the older the rope gets the more load it gets put under!!?? kinda odd really.

Yeah definetley,the older it gets the more it gets abused..in 3 years ive never seen one die!

Same as most people have said. Spike marks, saw nicks, pull ropes, lowering, towing etc. I often chog down a pole to a felling height, choker off my main line, come down on the zig zag and use it as a pull line.

Put my spike through my week old yale blue tonque first time I've ever spiked my rope that was over a year ago it's still going strong tho.

Silky cuts mainly. Cut the tail of my strop with my saw (twice)

Used a brand new Marlow venom on a conifer job and mullered the spliced end. cut the bad bit off earlier tonight..... Back to a bowline again now. One of these days I'll learn to splice.....

Worst thing I ever did to my rope was replace it with a Marlowe t16

Think they have improved Marlowe since then but never tried another:blushing:

dismantelling 1 ficus was so hot that ropes,boots and trousers were covered in latex,

 

ropes were taken of use after bilion diferent washs,not possible to remove this sap.:sad:

 

boots were ok after rubbing,trousers never been same after
