Our local school has not got a minibus and I thought well why don't we all chip in

I've seen some mental ideas on here over the years but this one could be a contender for some kind of record. You've got a better chance of getting Lord Lucan to drive it than getting a bunch of tree climbers to shell out 500 quid each for a minibus

My boys primary school doesn't have a mini bus. So they just hire one from a local company, as and when it's needed. The bus size varies according to how many little darlings are going out on the trip, so all bases covered for far less money. No servicing, insurances etc, and professional PCV drivers to look after the kids, not someone driving a large vehicle who isn't very good at it! I'm sure the school could find a much better use for a few hundred quid if you wanted to raise some money for them Jon.

Does the school even want or need a minibus?

What happens when 19 students need to go on a trip but its only an 18 seater?

For the price of a new minibus, the school could probably hire the perfect vehicle for the odd day a term they actually need it for 20 years and slip the agro of upkeep, insurance, driver training etc.

Nobel idea Jon but :lol::laugh1::blink::bird::banghead:

My thoughts exactly. Who is going to pay for running costs. It will be 300 mile a year machine.

The walking bus is better for them. The environment and even the less well off parents can partake.

Hi all what do you think of the Our local school has not got a minibus and I thought well why don't we all chip in all the kids parents could put £500 each what you all think thanks Jon

I remember reading something on this issue of school run minibuses, its a risk assessment , insurance and liability nightmare Jon. Far easier now for schools to hire in a minibus and competent driver for the occasional trip out. Competent underlined Jon because of the amount of teachers that have crashed these things when full of the most precious cargo on earth.
