Loppers "sick of expensive rubbish"

hi Guys

 

On the market again for a decent set of loppers, Don't know how many I've managed to bend, snap,or just loose, my last set was a bacho bypass loppers which were probably the best so far, managed to get a year out of them before the cotter pin fell out,so I'm looking for something light-ish under £70 with rubber grips if possible,

I've had a set of corona for about 5 years now, never let me down. Nice and light so can't complain

The Fiskars powergear are very good, looks like DIY grade rubbish, but they have lasted well. Only annoying thing was having to glue the ends of the handles back on within the first few weeks!

Like you I've tried all sorts over the years, last year I was working with a mate who had a pair of ' Barnel ' loppers, as soon as I picked them up I new they where going to be a good bit of kit.

 

They come in several different versions, I think the set I bought are 32" landscaper version. Really good

Something similar to the Felco 23 is the best lopper I've ever owned

Had one for nearly 20 years until it got lost on a project this year. Small lopper though, and mainly for fruit. That really sucked to lose those. Still need to replace it this winter.

 

I use a giant pair of Corona presently only for collapsing limbs. Works good. Otherwise I do not prune with loppers, Faster and better with sharp handsaw and hand pruners.

Answer may be you need to use a pruning saw more,

I have a pair made by wolf tools there standard pair but had a corona pair before great loppers .

I used stihl loppers, had them for 5 years before I lost it Brilliant pair, as long as you look after it, sharpen it and oil it (wd40) it will stay im good shape for ages
