My advice is to work in the industry for 8yrs then you won't need to ask these questions because you'll know it yourself.

I don't mean to sound facetious so I'm apologise that it sounds that way.

 

 

No you want 50 years mate only then are you "experienced" enough but then you'll be too old to climb the tree lol !

 

Dive in, the only way to learn is by your mistakes, usually under quoting!

Really? must be different up north. im far from the cheapest down my way and we are booked well into the new year

 

maybe your not that good a salesman?

 

 

Same here. We will always get people who go for the cheapest. Usually on dismantles where the end result is the same. For pruning work we get a lot because were better than the majority of the competition

Go work for someone and when you get to a job mentally calculate how long it'll take nd work out what you'd have changed and once your done work out if you were correct , or as others have said cost + time + profit = cost sometimes you'll get it wrong but hopefully less than you'll get it spot on.
