I always get asked how i want paying, cash cheque bank transfer is my answer, in future it will be cash or cheque on completion less hassle, as andy said the ability to take card payments would be good however the cost to operate such a machine, reliability and also the beating it will take means its not an option for me personally.

If you have either a iPhone or droid cell phone you can process your customers payments. You can down load an app and get paid for services rendered fast instead of wasting your time and carrying your customers invoices while they work with your time and money.

I added this sentence to our website and it made a massive difference: "Payment for our tree surgery work can be made by bank transfer, cash or cheque, and should be paid as soon as we are finished and you are happy with everything."

I'd never get paid if I did that mate.

Time you've been caught hosing down the back of the greenhouse, rubbing muck into tear cuts and hassling teenage daughters for phone numbers there's some right grizzlers out there.

I very seldom nowadays ask them if they are happy with everything, as you are then casting doubt in their mind, and by asking, they may then start to nit pick. Just in my experience.

:thumbup1: Very true!!!!!!:001_smile:

I normally say "That looks better now" or "That looks great now", as you say asking if they are happy can sow a seed of doubt that you some how think they may not be happy.
