Sharpening your own chipper blades

I think I pay about 5 quid a blade, maybe a bit more for the disc blades on the GM, unless you run loads of machines I can't see the point in doing it yourself. Drop a few sets off, go back a week later.

It's all tax deductible.

At that price is it your colouring pencils or chipper blades your getting sharpened?

Really is an incredibly keen price that Mick.

I think I'll sub my sharpening out to you to sub out to Angouleme affutage... ha ha ha!

Have a good weekend

Ty

Bringing this one back up. Ive seen the tormek stuff mentioned. But id really want to do blades in pairs. Ive looked into the surface grinders but still not clear regarding jigs etc. Id prefer to hollow grind if poss. Any suggestions to machine and set up greatly appreciated. Especially if any known machines up for sale especially bernhard chippermaster (used) cheers

I made a jig out of flat bar that holds 2 blades and sharpen them on bench grinder taking it easy not to heat up.

thinking on that I suppose the tormek jig could be adapted to take 2 blades. I really did want a wet system for this . blades im doing are all t/w 150 ,190 and 75/230 . im just hoping I can source something within reasonable price to do the lot . nothing worse than getting a setup that cannot do the whole job
