Unhitching the chipper whilst chipping.

Definitely unhitch, the resination will quickly kill a damper, the trailer manufacturers all recommend this.

I've replaced 2 of these and have now given up!

Our chipper just rattles and bangs about behind us.

Trailer experts AND the chipper manufacturer have all told us that it is

1. French roads 2. Our driving style... yeh right:thumbdown:

I think the manner of driving and maintenance has more to do with it, as a freelancer I have followed many chippers of all shapes and sizes to work sites and I am here to tell you, they all bounce, particularly over speed humps.

 

Chippers are usually in use every day. As a category they probably see more use than any other trailer, often with frequent off road excursions.

 

Blaming the problem on vibration alone seems a bit of a convenient get out for trailer people, In more than 2 decades I have yet to blow a damper.
