Massive announcement from myself

Adam, 18 months ago I felt like everything was going wrong....illness (burst appendix), body aches and pains (elbows, shoulders and wrists), way I was working (headless chicken) and crap jobs I was taking on etc etc. I made a kneejerk reaction and put everything up for sale. So believe me mate I know how you're feeling.

 

But.....

 

I sat down and made a list of all the things I love and apart from mountains and fishing, everything on the list was tree related!

I knew I had to make some changes in the way I was going about things and after a year of working smart and listening to my body I've done better than ever.

I'm about to start the level 4 diploma in arb with treelife in sept. I see a future in using my brain as well as my brawn in this industry.

 

from what I have read and seen you have way to much talent to walk away from arb. Best of luck with whatever you do. Pete.

Wow what a response!! I really don't know where to start. I guess a thanks to all

 

For those that don't know me I am indeed a freelance climber, and 33 years of age. Still very young but as the old saying goes I've had a hard paper round..

 

I really don't want to leave the industry totally but failing the obvious next steps into the industry I may have to become marks fat porn star!

 

There's nothing more I would love than to teach the new young guns but with a lot of education cut backs I think this maybe more difficult than it appears. We will see.

 

I do have a bit of time yet as work is still coming in and the last thing I want to do is let people down so I will see what's what by the end of the year or next tax year.

 

In the mean time thanks again for all your support.

Sorry to hear matey . I always look out for your vids . Just like you said a hard paper round . Subbies always get the up hill round and thats just a fact . Teaching the younguns maybe a good idea as your teaching from experience which is ....for me the best source by far . I'm 44 + and should be sponsored by Codeine ......... Why don't you build a team, a business around you and bring on others to climb whilst taking the role of management, own best groundy, stumpgrinder on remote control.

I have always been a mediocre climber but know how to employ those better than I and make a coin off their backs.

I didn't come into the work industry till I was 15 mate, it will be 19 years this march coming, if you like its been far longer than 19 as I was born into it.

 

I wish I could pass it as aches and pains mate and it's not very often I complain about hurting but this last year or so has been awful. To the point I wake up crying in so much pain. Imagine what I'll be like in another 10/15 years! I've tried most modern medicine and treatments but nothing seems to give in. Well the odd drink helps me forget haha.

 

Seriously though I don't have the money or backing to set up. It's been a very difficult 2 years financially for me with one thing or another.

 

But I'm plodding on for now so I've not totally given up on myself yet

If its any consolation i am in a similar situation with pain ie can only sleep on one side if i do get to sleep , my left arm/hand/knuckles lock in the winter and my back i have to hang of the stairs bannister to stretch my spine to relieve the pain .

Again like yourself i had a big paper round has a kid (pig farm) so i was battered from a early age now 47 .

So this year i set out to reduced the repetitive chores in my job (garden maintenance/tree work and fencing).

Invested in Cordless saws/hedge cutters and long reach to save the poor shoulder and knackered elbows from playing Roller Hockey!

 

Again invested in 2 new mulching mowers Toro 30" and the Viking this alone knocked 5 hours of my round and reduced the repetitive grass box scenario.

 

Next on the list was fencing.....simple one that. ....Dont do fencing anymore and my back is tremendous again

It is possible to work something out that will help in the long and i now spend more time with the family and i ache a lot less too .
