waste wood - what do do please?

Good Evening,

 

New person who has been directed to this site.

 

We have about 2 + artic lorries of trees /pallets /railway sleepers and general waste wood collected up in a big heap.

 

What do I do? - is there anybody who is keen to take this kind of thing?

 

Artic lorry access direct to wood pile. Located 14 miles from Worcester junction of m5.

 

Any ideas would be very helpful. Seems a shame to burn it.

Whereabouts 14 miles from M5? East or west?

Chipboard factory or power station ? However I think they might they might prefer better wood. Might be worth investigating though. I expect you might have to find another home for the sleepers. Landscaper/gardener parhaps for raised beds/free ads. Looks bit of a liability as it is, I suspect burning will be your cheapest option.

Most of it appears to be of poor quality and little value, the tree trunks look oversize for most processors so will want billeting before processing into firewood logs. That all adds to the cost of converting it into firewood.

 

Suspect chipping it would be the best and fastest option, but sleepers will not be taken as they contain a lot of creosote.

If you are prepared to put in a bit of time, the railways sleepers would definitely find a new home. What species are the tree trunks, how big and in what condition? From the picture, it looks like some could be a decent diameter so these may be worth someone's effort to mill if the species is useful (oak for example would still probably be in good condition).
