YES that is legal

Thanks for the simple answer, I have asked this question to several better informed people than myself. They tend to say downplate.

I have spent a few hours over the last 5 years or so reading Vosa website info.

One page can say one thing then another conflicts it. Rarely clearcut in my experience.

After weighing up all the pros and cons all i can suggest Mike, is keep to the back roads around your precinct where vosa fear to tread, and theres not a traffic cop car for miles.

Yes my bad, a typo. The point being the postion statement as in the letter quoted by Scraggs, is more to do with the vehicle plate than the licence category of the vehicle and trailer, which is what Agrimog was saying too.

I think what i will do is drive to the vosa station at Crimplesham with an empty trailer and see what they say and then get them to sign a letter stating what they have said.

Many thanks for your help everyone, it is much appreciated,

if you do make certain everything is ok (lights tyres brakes breakaway cable white derv on both the trailer and towing vehicle) otherwise you will be in bother

i personally have not looked into this but our companies h&s guy looked into this same issue and had the trailers de-rated to match the vehicle and he is adamant this was to comply not his own opinion.

i would guess the cost is minimal and better to be the right side of the law than sailing on the edge of uncertainty.

if you get pulled by an over zealous traffic cop or vosa official that hasnt met his quota for the week that decides its your turn for the rubber glove treatment...its grief you dont need.

imho!
