If you pay well, for decent work, with decent gear you can afford high standards and shouldn't have to suffer fools. I'm based in Rugby, and what you're offering is above what I'd expect to earn round here. If I was closer I'd be tempted to apply on the lower end of what you're offering (due to having 3 years experience) with a view to proving myself worthy of the top end of what you're offering in around 18 months.

Thing is, I'm lucky to be working with a fantastic team. We get on well, are highly motivated and competitive, and we reap rewards from our productivity in the form of a profit sharing system. Sometimes there is more to a job than just money, and if I left I'd worry about sacrificing the enjoyment I get from my job for a few extra quid.

It seems that people who don't put money above all else are looked down upon here, but I guess each person has a different motivation.

An excellent post Joe.

I am working for a charity and don't earn a salary as such. I get living expenses. A flat , a car, phone etc..

I work with recovering addicts, overseeing a small centre and an ARB business which is developing nicely.

I really enjoy the treework side of things but the biggest satisfaction is seeing people turn their lives around.

All the profit we earn goes back into the charity to help others.

I've never been happier in my life.

Chasing money and material things never brings satisfaction cos you never "quite get there"

Respect to you mate, sounds like you got a good thing going there.

How very depressing and is no doubt why our industry is so undervalued.

Agreed, from what I've heard while doing quotes round our way. There aren't many firms doing £550+ for a two man team on every job..

I'm not saying that you can't get that but that there are loads of "firms" out there devaluing the work available.

Fair play to you. How much would you estimate your living expenses, flat, car, phone etc add up to each year?
