ALDIs are pretty good, along with stollen of course.

no to the brandy butter or cream though 🤮 - little bit of single cream or or on their own 👍

Yes to the single, double or clotted cream. That's all that's needed and cuts through the sweetness of the mince pies perfectly.

Don't really do Mince pies, Christmas cake or Christmas Pudding myself. Can remember being extremely disappointed as a kid to get offered a mince pie and taking a bite to discover that their was no minced meat involved....

Mother makes hundreds of the things and they go to village or church events and are well received.

My only disappointing pie is one is the one that reveals a massive void inside and a measly smear of mincemeat.  Makes yer mouth dry just thinking about it........reaching for the Tea to wash it down.

Love ‘em. The puff pastry ones are nice but I’m not sure I’d let a subordinate see me eat one. Church hall issue flat ones best dry. Supermarket ones with void: two in a bowl, microwave, double cream, burn your mouth.

Lidl used to make mince pies with royal icing topping. Super sweet and lovely 🥰.  Don’t think they counted as one of your 5 a day though !!

Oh, no, I can do 5 a day....

(6 and emptying the whole box would just be greedy)
