Dirty, filthy, stinking habit. Yes I'am a smoker. I've been thinking about the Ecig for a while now. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

 

I don't even enjoy a fag any more, yet I still smoke.

My girlfriend is a dispenser in a pharmacy and went on a course about these things and they were told nothing but bad news about them, they have more chemicals than a normal cig apart from the tar but not only that they are untested so really no one knows the effects on what these can give you. In my opinion they aren't any better just 'modern' so don't get sucked in about how wonderful they are.

On what basis did they say that they are "bad news"? Given that they are "untested" and "no one really knows the effects ".

Sorry, but you really can't have your cake and eat it. No research means that you can't really put forward that sort of an argument.

There is, however, lots of evidence that shows that fags are really bad for you.

yep but general rule of thumb for lots of untested chemicals straight in yer lungs is prob not a good idea right? not saying fags are better or worse or that there e cigs are bad - just be nice to have some good research on long term use BEFORE everyones at it right?

Been smoking for 5 years now but I can't stop cause I still enjoy one with the morning coffee and when am down from a big climb, rolling them now and find the cravings aren't as bad and a lot cheaper, not tried one if those e cigs tho but they seem to the way to go.

Smoking is so anti social now, but these e-cig things are taken over now so to me it looks like your just swapping from bad habit to anther !!

 

I know these e-cig things are cheeper, as fags are way over £10 a pack now but surly it's better to just "give up"

Non smoker here as my old man who smoked all his life until recently went to the trouble of pointing out the down sides to it to us as youngsters.

 

Interesting how over the last 20 years or so smoking has gone from being the norm for the majority to now just being the occasional one from a small minority.There definitely seems to be a stigma about it these days

 

From personal experience I wont go out with a woman who smokes as however fastiduous they are about keeping clean etc, they do just stink of the stuff.

 

All that said, of my grand parents, the one who smoked, drank and ate all the 'wrong' things out survived the others by a long way
