Large chainsaw recomendations.

Would it not of been a better idea to use wood chip? Buying in and cutting and splitting 100 tonne a year is a very hard way to hear your home. No offence but the biomass thing seems like a total joke. Where does the government get off on giving money to people for having a biomass heat system that's really a luxury. And we wonder why the country is on its arse.

Hard to say what chainsaw to get without knowing the size of timber you're handling. For our logs businesses a MS460 with a 25" is big enough to break down any larger wood that comes my way.

100 tons is a heck of a lot of wood! Be prepared for a lot of hard graft.

If you have not got a clear plan how to process and handle a 100 ton a year it might be worth asking for ideas for a whole solution from wood to boiler :001_smile:

Stilhl make the best large saws 660 or for using all day long a 441 with the largest bar. But if like others say you need to do 100 t a year go the cone splitter route and hire in a big machine once a year to split it all then easier to cut up.

Err do they? I had a 660 and find compared to my 395 it's not as good in the cut, seems to not have as much go. I have a 441 but again find it underpowered compared to the 560 .

Just me but I don't think they do

Made the best, anything other than the 150 and 241 is pitiful in the current line-up, and the only reason they're winners is neither dolmar or husky make an equivalent!
