:001_huh: Really??? you must love Yellow pages and their like, as they cost rather lest than that.

Do you really spend 10% of turnover on advertising???????

You had a rough day fella :001_tt2:. Come on yp is a rip of we all know that . £1000 job I will happily give a local gardener / tradesman a £ 100 quid . Its not all about making money . Its also about greasing the wheels for the future and sharing the dough . Then we can all party

I would not expect you to pass me work, also you would not be passing me work, your passing me a lead its still down to me to win the work.

I'm more than happy to pass on the numbers of good trades men and expect nothing in return.

Each to their own.

When I used to do a lot of domestic drainage work a lot of the damage was caused by tree roots, many of the people that had forked out money to have their drains repaired wanted rid of the cause of the problem, ie trees/hedges removed. I used to pass these on to a local tree surgeon (until he moved away) he used to give me 10% (of the price) of the first job. He told me he was more than happy with this because he used to get lots of other work off that customer and on occasion work from their neighbours, friends and family.

Over the years I have built up a book of all different tradesman, they pass me work, I do the same, some very lucrative jobs on both sides, myself or the trades I know would not expect a fee for passing a lead to a job.

I always offer a % as I'm polite like that & it is always declined & likewise.

I do this with one of my customers, they get quite a lot of work from us and this type of thing has happened on quite a few occasions over the years, they always give me my cut regardless of customer going direct to them at a later date or me passing it to them, tbh if they didn't I would be rather offended being as they wouldn't have got the work in the first place.

It's work I could do myself but would rather pass it on and take a cut

Not at all its been a good day :001_smile:

Genuinely, I spend about £1K with Yell and Yellow Pages, If I thought for one second that would only bring me £10K of work I'd cancel tomorrow!!

What a self centered git : (

Exactly why we keep a tight circle here and we all know the score . I pass you work and you pass me work . It doesnt always go to plan but hey life is full of ups n downs . Just be honest and fair and always share the rewards with those around you . ie

Firewood guy gets me work he will get all the timber .

If its a plumber or another trade he will usually get some dollars .

Its suprising how much work you can get when you drop a bottle of whiskey off at christmas just to say thanks .

I will always get gifts in return for my good deeds .

I love sharing it makes me happy . Although I can see your point Huck and I dont always share the joy with people who I dont know . It takes time to build up a rapport with other tradesman who you dont know :thumbup1
