Ye of little faith, 60mph wind and driving rain won’t stop them 😂

You sure they've not just floated away with all the rain ?.

Too slow, was about to say "big log blown away"

(reminds me, going out to do some goblin later, just a small ash today, couple of barrows full, 1/2 mile walking tops in total but it keeps me active (tricky vehicle access), a days firewood)

That goat willow will make them wonder what went wrong with the fire, it does smoulder a bit if you open the throttle but there's not much heat in it. 🤨We are waiting for some better weather to cut and split some down decent stuff at the farm. Local lads use it to dump chip and odd shape stuff they can't process easily.

This was a good thread, worth a read if only to give people an understanding of the economics of firewood retail.

I've spent time reading through this, and skipping the tangents and spats, and totally agree.

I am however a bit of a log goblin myself and always ask if I think it belongs to someone or if on common ground use the adage its sometimes easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

This surely has to be a prime contender for Arbtalk's most rewarding read (and wildly free-reigning thread, ever)?

Um, and on the slightest of (topical) derails:

When working on an autumn roadside tree removal job, two decades ago, I knocked up a hand painted

'Cheap logs -today only' sign, and placed it on the verge.

It duly produced a steady trickle of Goblins, in cars, happy to PAY BEER MONEY (!) for the timber or logs, that we didn't really want to clear away..

Some even became log customers, for a while!

An absolute winner !

Has anyone else successfully tried a similar idea?
