Well, looks like my 6 year old daughter has it.

She has Asama, so as you can imagine, I'm a little concerned.

Used the government website, off to pick up the "Tammy flue".

Each year in this country 11,000 people die from "normal flue".

In 1918 the "Spanish flu came in the spring, most people who caught it had mild symptoms. It returned in the Autumn/winter and killed 50Million world wide, more than WW1.

Most of those killed were under 40 and fit and healthy.

This was before antibiotics.

this is the risk, that it wil cross with a virus that has the ability to mutate rapidly (such as seasonal flu) which leads to the people that have currently built up an imunity wont be imune and it can rapidly evolve into something far more deadly(like what hapened with the spanish flu)

:thumbdown:Oh and antibiotics don't help u when uve got a virus!!!!!!!

Ditto the above re anti-biotics. Flu is a virus not a bacteria. Antivirals such as aciclovir feature in this situation, as does tamiflu etc. My neighbour had it - quarantined for 7 days in his bedroom! Wife and babies didn't catch it. Same symptoms as "normal" flu for him. Swine Flu Parties - theory is you purposely get it to build immunity, but this does NOTHING to protect you from a mutated version...
