Would be intrigued to see how they hold up.

Been veggie for 7 years and the lass is vegan. You should weigh up why you do it, because environmentally (and economically!) it might be better to get a pair of boots that will last a fair few years that aren't vegan. If its more an animal welfare choice then maybe you wouldn't be up for that.

If your cobblers killing beings just to make a pair of boots something's wrong. Leather in my boots is a by product of the meat industry, which itself keeps the countryside alive via farming?

Whilst I agree up to a point, where do you draw the line? Non leather boots (or any substitute product) may well cause harm to other animals/people in its production and transport. Such as increased energy required to produce it stemming from extra coal mining, or being developed in institutions which could be involved in testing on animals, or poor working conditions/child labour in its raw material production.

If you have a pet dog would you kill any ticks or flees it may have?

What about day to day products and living - drive a car? Use anything like a mobile phone/computer? All the vast habitats and creatures destroyed to make way for material mining, drilling, transport networks, rainforest deforestation for rubber, palm oil, even Brazil nuts, are immense compared to slaughtering a well cared for free range animal to feed many mouths and make use of all its body parts like leather. Even the house you live in probably caused the death and loss of home for many animals.

And then there is the issue of what do class as a sentient being?!

I really don't mean to sound like a ranting animal murderer. I very much care for animal welfare and support the free range organic farmers rather than buying mass produced, battery farmed meat etc. Equally I am not trying to belittle your beliefs and dietary choices, just wondering where you draw the line and what you base you views on.
