It's astonishing what these sub 750 kg chippers can do.

In the end when you look back on a job like a dismantle ask yourself

"What was the weak point in that job? Where could we have been more efficient?"

Ime it's usually the loading of the cordwood, not the chipping of the brash. A TW Jensen or green mech can keep up with a climbing dismantle, you don't get a queue at the machine.

So these smaller machines make a lot of sense for a lot of us.

 

That's a good post.

Ian, of course chunkier machines will last well, but how long can you realistically expect a machine to last?

I know a few 150s that are over a decade old and have been worked hard.

I agree, I will stand up for Timberwolf without question as it has made me a living for over 10 years, sure it's had a few things go but not in the dramatic way people on here go on about.. It will chip away on big jobs happily all day long. I will quite happily keep my chipper for another 1000 hours but it makes sense to look at changing soon for the tax benefits. I am excited to be getting the new 230 on demo soon but will only buy it if it is made into a VTR.

Depends how long you want them too last? Light machine thin metal!

 

 

It isn't going to be that much thinner, and the most important part is us young staff can tow a chipper without costing the company with training

Believe me it is! I have had both.

 

I dont buy into the under 750 thing, trailer training as nd test is about 550 quid and not having it limits you so why not invest in yourself and make your self more attractive to an employer?

 

Both my chippers and stump grinders are over 750k so you would be no use to me.

I wouldn't imagine I would be much use to you even if had my B+E, I'm a utilities surveyor

To be fair, as long as the combination doesn't exceed 3.5t, anyone can tow, it's only when it exceeds 3.5t that I would need a B+E

Spot on - it's a pain in the backside trying to arrange work and equipment for teams around the ability to get everything to and from a job.
