Interesting reviews , I swapped our 4 ms200's and went over too the 540 and so far we have not had a problem with ours . If the saw is stored close to the harness when not n use it does not get beaten from branch to branch and does not end up getting broken - this is seen as good practice and a design feature of the saw . We have not had any experience of the rear AV mount failing, however the saw is not dropped onto its lanyard neither is it yanked on when trapped . If I'm honest if the AV mount vials then I will replace it and move on ! After all it is only an AV mount and should be treated as a replaceable service part

The 201 handle is no better and I have still yet to brake my 540 or replace the anti vibe spring... If I had stayed with the 200 I would of have replaced the chain brake handle and earth lead every 6 months so used to keep them as spares.

So I have still saved money.

I've never considered myself particularly easy going on my saws, yet mines holding up just fine after 9 months use. How much abuse are these other saws getting that seem to be falling apart I wonder?

 

Just what one ( us ) would have normally done to a 200t . Chain brake handle only on them . They are too fragile to be treated as a 200t . A better saw in the cut IMO but made of high tensile sea water .....

My thought as well, I don't wrap mine in cotton wool but I dont fling around or drop em out of trucks either. I could oc just been lucky :rolleyes:

We've got 4 and had several breakages, 2 side handles broke where a 020 would have prob survived, one completely smashed dropped onto concrete where nothing would have survived (but the fuel tank was ok), one primer bulb fell off and one impulse hose came off without the bent AV problem.

 

I do think the lads are a tad rough with them but never had this many Stihl problems bar the chain brake handles breaking.

It is far easier and cheaper to employ lads that look after your kit if they take little care over the tools that they use to earn a living then what respect do they have for the employer ??[

 

 

Wouldn't say that round here can't get experienced full time staff at all.

 

They're all learning and accidents happen.
