I agree with Stevie. You have no idea of the history behind their actions. My mum and dad had a neighbour once who washed dog mess under the fence (until my dad and I sealed the gravel boards with cement and the crap ended up in his garage ), tried putting his fence over 1ft onto my parents' land and then attacked my dad with a claw hammer when my dad began to take it down. I wouldn't think they would have given him the steam of their pee, let alone logs, however crap they were.

I have actually had one customer warn me about their neighbor or neighbors before I would even start work at his home. Seems he had an opinion about most of them, I was happy to be well informed in advance. Keeps the neighborhood drama down to sound level.

I had a fence customer warn me about his neighbour he said he was a right so & so etc & that he would be giving grief because of the new 2m high fence that was going up!

 

we got on site unloaded all the gear & started to take down the old fence as the first panel landed on the truck the neighbour appeared out of the back door looked at us smiled & just said tea or coffee that tight so & so wont be asking you if you want one

 

he was sound as was the guy we were working for they do say theres nowt as funny as folk!

Ive had that a few times, you expect the devil and get an angel, I don't take any notice now if a customer slags off their neighbour, I take as I find.

Quite often the ones doing the slagging are the problem in my experience

Its a tricky business living next to people! I have a few regular hedge trimming customers who are neighbours and don't get on. So I have to act as a bit of a go between when trimming the hedges on the boundary.

i was once asked to take down a dead rowan standing just 6" from the next-door fence. strangely enough, there was a small round hole in the fence at exactly the same position as a small round hole in the tree!!!

We've just had one job where the neighbour DEMANDED that we cut our clients conifer hedge lower as her husband had already cut their side (but remember not their hedge to cut) some 70cm lower so they had a lovely view of the dead dry interior of the hedge.

We didn't as it was only a light trim and as a result had to endure 5 members of her family barracking us for an hour as we worked.

Remarkable faces I recall, strong evidence of consanguinity and alcoholism there...

I did a tree removal for somebody a few weeks ago which was on private land next to his house, was all good apart from him standing there watching the whole time even trying to look right up close when we were felling it ..

All said and done and then he goes on about these other trees next to it ..

Did some enquiry about them and they turn out to be on council land .. no way.
