At moment I have three woodburners two jotuls and a multifuel but its all a bit too much effort, got screwed last year as we had 14 feet of snow and logs were stored 200 yards away, electric bill was over £1500,

So this year demolishing derelict barn next to house and putting "patio" right next to kitchen door, at end of summer will remove table chairs etc and fill patio with ibc containers next to kitchen door .......

Looking to replace jotul in kitchen with new model to run around 10 radiators and hot water

Never had house with central heating, so will be new experience for me !

Any suggestions re make of new woodburner gratefully received ......Trying to keep costs down too ........

A frightening amount!!

But not yet managed to quantify.

btw

I somewhere recently saw a comment that a simple "rule of thumb" for firewood consumption was that the m3 consumed per year = the rated kW output of the boiler required to heat ones dwelling.

In our case that would be 40kW=40 cube (but no idea if this figure is based on hardwood, softwood or an average).

I'm replacing my 11kw Bullerjan with a circa 17-20kw stove from The Champion Stove Company. I've got the 4kw stove of theirs in my office and it's very well made and good on firewood, as well as providing me with far more heat than I need. He doesn't do larger stoves off the shelf, so this one is just a scaled up small one. At £400, I'm not complaining for a well built, British made stove.
