In a attempt to stop flooding in the larger towns down stream they have let the rivers silt up.

Yeah a few years back I was taking bottled water to old folk in my landy. It wasn't much but it helped a few people who couldn't go and get it for themselves.

 

I wish my mog was working. If it was I'd probably take a drive down there and see if there was anything I could transport for folk. If everyone with the means just offered one day of their time it would be a huge help.

They made half the army redundant, the rest are fighting a war they shouldn't be involved in... Knowing the gov' they would supply the troops plimsolls to wade in just like the useless boots they supplied for the desert...

 

In an attempt to stop flooding, the EA used to dredge rivers that had silt build up... Luckily, they sold all (or nearly 90%) of our dredgers to another country (Switzerland I think) so that plan is out of the window. :blushing:

 

Said in Farmers Guardian the other week that the EA are laying off a load more staff from waterways maintenance due to budget cuts again, although would also help if people would stop building on flood plains :sneaky2:
