Gulp.

I use these forecasts to plan. The guy is one of the calmest and level headed forecasters going. He's worried about the weekend weather in south west. Looks terrible.

Dave

that forecast doesnt look so good for the weekend :thumbdown:

Seems a nightmare down there, sending Marines in on such a small scale this late appears to be a bit of PR by the looks of it. The suits seem to not give a monkeys about our British farmers, am I not right that the dairy industry down there has been decimated already over recent years ?!?

My thoughts are with you, Cheers Ian

Ruthin flooded few years ago ....pictures on national tv rescuing people in jcb buckets, boats etc

Council spent £3m on new flood defences

My fencer said he was talking to jcb driver who'd just retired who said " in 1950's he could drive his jcb under bridge in middle of ruthin, just before floods there was about 2 foot clearance under bridge" They could have saved fortune by dredging

After spending £3m On flood defence for about 1/2 mile of river the rain flooded a brand new housing estate on flood plain literally with 1/2 mile of original flood

Letter in local paper said some dodgyness had lowered the height of the houses above ground by 41cms .....saving fortune for builders ....but flooding new houses by 15cms

And you have to wonder how they got planning on flood plain in first place

I'm very cynical re council .......

Arthur - i know that bridge well - i remember mwrog (sp?) street flooding too - duh actaully has a stream running down the center in a pipe now.

they've done alot of work on the banks up at ours in LL D.C

yeah its very heart wrenching to watch especially the farming aspect - it always seems to me that the good councils in upland areas do their part aswell as the local land owners - then somewhere in the middle it all goes up the creek and the man at the bottom gets the **** storm.
