I've changed a few of these gearbox's, they are tricky. It involves drilling out pop rivets that hold a bearing in place. I've also successfully repaired them by opening up the gearbox and replacing the spacer which the clutch mechanism presses against for a slightly longer one thus taking up the slack. I have seen them where the spacer which is made of plastic has melted due to the friction of the parts rubbing together. In my opinion they are poorly designed, nothing like older Honda's.

Do we need a Honda engine i.d. guide or do they have identification plates?

Got our old DR in the dealer being looked at. It sounded like it dropped a valve and stopped dead. They haven't stripped the head yet but there was bits of piston in the oil which doesnt look good. Our BCS so far (touches wood) has been good. Still backfiring as she usually does when worked hard.

I've got a Hayter Harrier 56 on my bench.

 

The wheels have broken (they are only 6 months old), the alloy deck is cracked in multiple places as it's rubbish, the engine won't run properly (because it's a Briggs) and of course the drive has failed. It will also only fill it's collecting bag half full before choking.

 

It's going in the skip and a Lawnflite 533 Pro is replacing it.... :lol: The best pro mower out there for a contractor. Solid, reliable Honda engine and will pick up wet grass until the bag is stuffed so full you can barely lift it. It's twice the mower for about £100 more.

 

I had (still got it but don't use it anymore) a lawnflite Pro, but i had problems with the gearbox so brought a honda hrh536 to replace it.

The problem i've found with the honda is its no where near as good as the lawnflite at collecting grass when its wet.

They are pretty similar mowers and was wandered what the difference between the two is? Or if there is anything i could do to the honda to improve it collecting the grass when it is wet?

Engine numbers are required for engine spares Bob, but just try cleaning the carb first.

 

I guess its a manual choke and a GCV 135 engine, if so thats enough info to source a carb.

As far as I can see, the HRH is Honda's attempt to copy the Kaaz.

 

There is nothing like the real thing.

Just been looking at the kaaz mowers the Kaaz LM5360HXA-HST-PRO is almost identical to the Lawnflite and honda pros. Is there any difference between the 3????

The lawnflite is made by Kaaz, the Honda is not.

 

Asuka, Sarp and Shanks were all rebadged Kaaz mowers.

The way I heard it from my local dealer was that Lawnflite/Kaaz bought the design off Honda?

 

Are Kaaz are still selling their varient? Mine has Lawnflite, Kaaz and Honda labels on various parts of it
