Following on from Spuds hugely successful 'whats on my bench' thread, which is primarily for small 2 stroke kit, I wonder if a similar thread for mowers may be of interest?

It will include mowers, both walk behind and ride-on, and will cover common faults and repairs.

By reporting on strengths, and weaknesses of various machines it could also act as a kind of review to assist potential buyers of any models featured.

Is this going to be of interest to anyone, either techies, or users?

Nice one Barrie, good time of year to kick it off, just need the " I strapped a Fireblade engine to my mower" thread now:thumbup::lol:

Hope it gains interest, I for one have to start from base camp when working on rotary mowers - I get there in the end but it just takes time!

I've got a Hayter Harrier 56 on my bench.

The wheels have broken (they are only 6 months old), the alloy deck is cracked in multiple places as it's rubbish, the engine won't run properly (because it's a Briggs) and of course the drive has failed. It will also only fill it's collecting bag half full before choking.

It's going in the skip and a Lawnflite 533 Pro is replacing it....  The best pro mower out there for a contractor. Solid, reliable Honda engine and will pick up wet grass until the bag is stuffed so full you can barely lift it. It's twice the mower for about £100 more.

Sound great to me, got a problem with my Izzy hunting unless on full revs, will have to go to shed to look up model number etc and that's not happening in this weather! :D
