  1. Hi guys just had a honnda hhh25 hedge trimmer brought in covered in oil just started it up on tickover smoking like mad but clears as soon as revved air filter covered in oil just cleaned that no difference it get's worse as it warms up i am thinking rings but getting 100 psi on compression test also checked crank case breather is clear which it is customer will not spend big money on it so don't want to dig to deep just wandered if you guys have come across this problem?
  2. i use it for banks of 4 carbs off bikes etc and other big jobs i do us cleaning for garages / other workshops but i do have a 6 ltr for small jobs it is not as good as the crest though.
  3. this is what i have it is a bigun 26 ltr
  4. i have the mityvac kit use it all the time no problems you just have to get a spark plug adapter to fit hose to echo make one have seen them on ebay for sale
  5. i will get a pic latter for you it was quite bent the needle went from one end of the scale to the other i had the engine off so went down to him with the engine to try it out he guided me on how to do it the crank was nearly straight so just tweaked it a bit moor and bank off it went no warning at all the crank looked like cast very grainy appearance not like steel i would say it was ductile iron which would account for the sudden break:thumbdown:
  6. just tried the straightener on a quantum engine and the crank snapped so will not be buying i would not want a crank to break on a mower with a blade on it
  7. I USE A UV DYE YOU CAN BUY ON EBAY JUST ADD TO THE OIL NEXT TIME YOU CLEAN DOWN THE ENGINE LOOK WITH A UV LIGHT AND YOU WILL SEE THE TRACK OF THE LEAK IT CAN BE DIFFICULT TO FIND THE LEAK IF IT'S ONLY SLIGHT THIS IS THE KIT UV Dye & UV Torch Kit Leak Detection Dye For Oil & Fuel Leaks RLD4 Ring | eBay
  8. just buy a ryobi combi sounds like it will out last a stihl 4mix:001_tt2: only kidding guys but i have a customer who has a ryobi and beats the stuffing out of it and still going strong even though a 1/2 crank engine he only uses stihl oil in it the green stuff
  9. so you think it is ok to straighten a bent crank shaft i had a fear of it braking and getting sued how would your insurance stand if a accident happened?
  10. i am talking about bent crank from hitting a stump or bar etc bottom end where the blade attached i have not had any problems with the machines i have unknowingly sold the set up i saw was a jig with a pressure bolt on the top of the crank a equalizer bolt under the crank to take the strain off the aluminum sump pan the thing is when he has straightened the crank there are no witness marks to show it was even done no one would even know ( i did'nt ) till he told me yesterday
  11. dropped in to a shop i visit sometimes as i buy second hand machines from them from time to time i saw the boss with a engine set up in a crankshaft straightener he told me he has been doing this for years with no problems then told me i have bought machines with straightened crankshafts:cursing: now i am worried what i may have sold:thumbdown: what are you guys views on crank straightening?
  12. echo sale them for there testers try echo dealer:thumbup:
  13. i tried chemical metal on one of them it lasted a week and got rubbed though i will try fiberglass next time but i like to make a permanent repair i hate stuff coming back spud i am glad it's not just me with these rods
  14. has anyone tried hts2000 on magnesium chainsaw cases? i have had 3 Jonsered saws com in with pin holes in the oil tanks where they have been put down running and vibration had rubbed a hole in the case hts 2000 website sat it will braze magnesium & say suitable for chainsaw repair buy i have not had any luck with using it on magnesium it leaves the surface very porous & looks horrible in the states they tig weld it but can not get the az92 rods here in the uk in small lots is it something i am doing wrong with the hts2000 as it works well on alluminim i always clean the surface with a stainless wire brush & the wipe over with acetone to degrease the surface any help guys?
  15. i always remove the exhaust even if good compression as i was shown by my ex boss a saw that had 150 psi compression but a badly scored piston the only way it was running was the rings had not stuck yet but it ran like a pig when hot i try to always pull the exhaust in front of the customer if i can to show them the condition it come in like
  16. got to agree there is it true stihl have started to assemble in china ? if so this could be the kiss of death for stihl:thumbdown:
  17. lucky the gauge is not mine it's my friends i bought the echo gauge which works fine
  18. stihl part number is 5910-850-2000 for series 4180 power head there lies the problem it looks like the gauge is made for this series only
  19. stihl & echo are for 2 stroke engines stihl has 10mm plug thread screwed in to a 14mm adapter the echo is the opposite way 14mm down to 10mm there must be a valve of some type as the stihl holds the pressure 55 psi first pull then up to 60 psi second pull then no more echo has the schrader in the end of the hose echo takes 5 pulls to get the 120 psi the only thing i can think of is the stihl made for a specific series of engine?
  20. looks like the stihl gauge is us 60 psi difference we checked it against a second gauge which also reads 120 psi same as echo so stihl gauge out the window my friend not very happy as first time out of the box he is sending it back
  21. just bought a echo compression tester from a friend in the states so poped down a friends shop and did a comparison with his stihl gauge echo 120 psi stihl which has a 10mm thread but has a adapter to convert to 14mm but only got 60 psi ? His stihl gauge is only a week old but this is the first time out of it's box now he thinks there is a problem with the stihl gauge the only thing that is different is the stihl has not got a shrader valve in the end any ideas
  22. may be coil breaking down when hot when you try to restart check the spark with a proper spark tester not just the spark plug
