There must have at least two of you, as there appears to be two trucks, could one of you not have stayed???

There were two, I continued working in the rear garden taking the arisings to the front but these school run mums have nicking parking spaces down to a fine art.

When I 1st looked at the pick I thought you ment someone had donated some brash to you to chip for them:rolleyes:as iv had that at least twice where a old bloke starts cutting down something in his garden and wanders across and dumps it next to the chipper,

Yes daft place to park but as said would Mrs non practical know any difference?

I started to wonder if the sound of a chipper was like the sound of an ice-cream van to kids!

As soon as it starts they all come out of their burrows with brown recycle bins, bags, armfuls of random garden waste with the ubiquitous "mind if I put this on your pile?" Which usually gets the "leave it there and put £10 in the van" response!

Amazing how that gets a surprised and quizzical look. Oh no, I not here trying to earn a living, I'm just here for general waste disposal and public convenience!

God bless them!

I hate it when people move me cones its like an invasion of my personal space  The school run is always chaos and to loose 4 spaces probably made things worse. Have you ever had someone cross the road and step over the trailer draw bar just as you pull away. Luckily he was a porter at the hospital we were working at right potty mouth as well

Ah, When we are working in Rennes, parking space is of such a premium that cones and signs are of no use.

So we apply to the city council for permission to work in the road.

A sign, like a planning application is put out days before warning that no parking here on these dates.

Even so, when we go to lunch we leave cones, piles of wood, bins, upside down wheel barrows anything to prevent people encroaching on our work space.

It's smart arses like you, who ruin arbtalk

LOL intereting point you raise, but I have analternative point of view, namley .....

Its thick skinned people like me that have been doing the job for over 30 years, have seen too many accidents and investigated too many arguments, disputes and squabbles that have ended in tears, blood or death all, usually over seamingley 'minor' or 'stupid' things like, cones a culture of creating a safe work site that keep the debate going.

The location was in a cul de sac with plenty of places to park, signage was placed in front of the red van & off camera at the other end, cones were placed in space & were moved by the car driver, chipper was wheel clamped as the work was in the rear garden. The job didn't warrant an extra body. You could clearly see it was a work area. I think the op was clearly stating not to underestimate the stupidity & resourcefulness of the general public.

No matter what you do you must never underestimate, the publics ability to be selfish to the max

Like the two and a half hours I had to wait a few weeks ago while dog walkers returned to their abandoned cars so I could get our kit out of a woodland. Sorry does not cut it.
