Hello all,

 

Right, I have something that may help. Firstly being older than most of you, I need +1 reading glasses, therefore its sometimes easy to miss out minor detail when not.

 

There is a very small triangle adjacent to where you line up the black part of the cap, but not very obvious. So I take a black permanent marker pen & mark on the casing where the black part of the cap should be to assist correct line up.

 

Having done that, the fuel one is still by far the easiest. The oil is less fiddly than before ( they are genuine Stihl caps) but still slightly tricky. But the gathering of sawdust in the many nooks & crannies remains.

 

So the problem is less bad as opposed to fixed, Id swap them for screw in bungs any-day & any future saws wont have them for sure.

Don't the new saws come with black marks on the caps and saws so they are fool proof? I don't and never had a problem with them.

:lol:1, I'm not the only one who thinks 'what a stupid design' everytime I'm trying to fuel up a Sthil in a hurry, Lost count of number of times I've seen a saw sent up to a climber and a sthill fuel cap coming loose and fuel everywhere (not just after my filling!!)

Huskys have a very easy screw cap that is 100% fast and easy to use...

The new Stihl black caps are similar to the Husky caps.

I do like the new Husqvarna ones, but I also have no problem with the Stihl ones.

 

The old Husqvarna oil caps were a bit rubbish the rim broke off.
