Easy mistake to make, the strangest thing is that I have seen pistons fitted back to front with the pin going right up the centre of the exhaust port and apart from strange wear, no other issues or snagging!

Shouldn't be possible!

Same thing happens to my wife if my piston is the wrong way abouts.

Hi Spud,

I have an MS200t, but it has developed a few niggles and it needs a bit of a tune up and service, maybe even a port if that's possible.

How much is this likely to cost if i post it to you?

Thanks!:001_smile:

He is describing the removal of the KAT which will derestrict the muffler. Some are simple and some are impossible but it is a known improvement.

It is also possible to mess the engine up if the carb isn't readjusted.

Hi spud. I have an old 034 stihl and a spare 550xp that's out of warranty now. What can be done to these saws and what are the costs? I tried searching the thread for more detail but didn't find what I was after.

The 034 currently runs a 18" bar and cuts well but it's sluggish on the uptake and bogs down easily. It'd be nice to run it on a slightly bigger bar for oversize logs and felling the odd bigger tree, even if it meant running skip tooth on a 24" perhaps? It may be getting worn but it's not had a huge amount of use.

The 550 is basically a backup and would be interested to hear what it could be capable of if modded ?
