  4. Folk protested against the building of the m25.....now look
  5. Cops just drive past sirens on in the hopes it puts them off, clear as day what's going on, but CBA with the paperwork of having to acctually intervene 🤬
  6. I honestly don't know the facts, I was just passing on what he was saying I got the impression it was the postie's striking against thier bosses , trying to hurt the public to prove a point I guess
  7. A postie I spoke to said they were fighting for thier jobs altogether, not a pay rise , apparently RM are going to scrap the red postboxes completely, which means all postie's will lose thier jobs, essentially they will just become a courier like all the rest I mean, who posts mail these days other than bills etc but it's mostly just emailed, he said if you're lucky when emptying a postbox on an evening these days there may be 2 envelopes I'm sure I read somewhere that parking wardens are striking next

  12. Still seems a hell of a lot for a medium house with 2 adults / 2 kids And let's face it, there's people that simply won't be able to afford increases like that
  13. Would definitely check, in 2 years mine have gone from £120 a month to £330, and likely over £400 once the cap increases These companies will just increase your direct debit with one email of warning that probably will end up in spam anyway
  14. Wonder how much he'll make on this lot, lovely little retirement fund https://www.linkedin.com/posts/charles-r-fawcett-3b3a7a142_some-people-invest-in-fine-wine-some-in-activity-6951513303831523328-BgV1?utm_source=linkedin_share&utm_medium=android_app
  15. That's a tidy little cash injection for little amount of time/work 2nd hand car market is crazy at the moment People wacking 10k on nearly new cars, just because they can and know it will sell Even heard of dealers offering to buy brand new cars back off the owners when they came to pick them up , for 10k more than they paid
  16. Building inspector signed it all off along with the drainage, so can only assume so! Bit late now, it's under about 300mm of concrete 🤣 Thankyou 😆, it's supposed to be 'dutch barn' style , best way to get the most room upstairs as it's greenbelt and right next to a ww2 airfield so council weren't loving the ridge being raised too high Yes , if I may say so myself I quite like the look of it! Very easy to work with and should last well too
  17. So just as lockdown hit in 2020 me and my dad decided to knock down 95% of his house and 'extend' it. Had been in planning for a while it wasn't a spur of the moment lockdown project , they just happened to coincide Most credit goes to dad, with my limited input , we had a Brickie do the block work, dad laboured for him through lockdown, crushed all the rubble Into type 1 for the sub base, then did the concrete slab Then a chippy did the floor joists & caberdek, we put up the steelwork ourselves, and hired the truck/hiab in and installed the glulams, then a chippy did the techy rafters, some of the compound mitre cuts must have about 5 angles on it which does my brain in🤣, but me and dad did the easy straight rafters, ply lining , membrane and counter battons, We had a roofer do the main battons and tiling, soffits facias leadwork etc Oh and a window company did the windows We installed the stud walls, floor insulation and underfloor heating pipes and a screed company screeded it in a day Now have sparks and plumbers in and kitchen fitters, but we've done all the insulation, plasterboard and painting ourselves so far Cladding is a cement board wood lookalike I'm afraid to say, but looks pretty darn good IMO Still a long way to go, but for what seems to be a weekend hobby project it's getting there 🙄(sorry credit also iv had a lot of mates helping on Saturdays etc)
