On the flip side and to go off the dog eat dog world comment, if these guys with their well paid jobs stopped trading as tree surgeons maybe this would give us a few more full time jobs in our industry. Food for thought

No problem with the fireman in our trade , but what I can't understand is when you go on strike you put us (general public) in danger your gripe is with the government not us so please go and blockade or something in the city and don't put our lives at risk, Rant over :-)

Mark is right, they are attracting attention to the issue but if they were needed they would be there in a heartbeat.

or maybe if the arb industry was looked at as a bona fide profession rather than a extension of agricultural work, what we need is a professional body that has the arborist's interests at heart OH SORRY WE DO couldn't resist cheap dig

If it was a " bona fife profession" then it would be looked on as such, but it's a manual labour, back breaking, fuel stinking job, like brickie, joiner, plumber, etc.

Best just to get on with your job and if you're not happy then try something else!

Supply and demand will determine your wages most of the time.
