Trouble is they may find some scrote that has squirreled the wood away from work and needs cash for christmas. But there is not much you can do about that. If you have a list of sizes I can supply the wood half price and with a vat ticket.

if you base your business on cash price- you'll fail

Personally I can't stand it

they always want you to collect= expense

they want a discount

they often in jobs earning over 50K so it's no respect to us.

Don't do it

most times you get the job anyway. Think.... clever.

Not wanting to sound like a do gooder but if no one pay tax then the situation don't work. Your roads fail, you get bitchy about potholes. etc etc,

Don't allow the rich to avoid tax. It's just not worth it.

Do people think if I offer the builders merchants cash they will do it cheaper ?

Rant over

Josh

Quite a few will.................

Not saying theyre doing anything wrong and it certainly beats 30 day month end for them if cashflow is an issue

I use the example of the local Supermarket not accepting cash instead of the builders merchant. I doubt most of my customers even know what a builders merchant really is.

What supermarket won't accept cash?

I have had people ask if its any cheaper for cash and the answer is no sorry.

If I give them a price and if they ask is it cheaper for cash I say that is the cash price if you want to pay by cheque the add 20% and if you want 30 days to pay then add 20%.

I like cash for cash flow reasons, no discount though.im going to be doing five days a week on 30 day invoices for the best part of the next 2 months, going to be good in the long term as its heading towards 5k at the end of it, but not good for the cashflow!

I'm not VAT registered so makes no odds that way, if they want to pay cash fair enough just print an invoice off for it and put it in the books, all goes in the bank anyway, if they hint at it when your looking at the job stick extra on the price then you can knock it off and be back at the price you want anyway and they think they've got a bargain :laugh1:
