What the hell is going on here then ?

I'm guessing it was an emergency job as the tree has clearly been hit by something large & heavy & both trucks are loaded with chip. The contractors were probably asked by the LA to fell asap. Not normal practice I know & hardly likely to cause any damage to underground services given the size of the tree. Been on a couple of jobs in the past where that was the safest, quickest option & the less inconvenient to the public.

Speculative as that statement is, from a H&S viewpoint ground felling is always preferred over work at height so they did the right thing. How they went about it, not so much and putting it on the web even more not so much.

Cutting corners like that is bad practice and if I had never done it I would say they were bad men.:laugh1:

Speculation is all we have, so it's not really fair to get in arms about it.

Very confused now- been on there website. Look to be a very large, respectable, AA approved tree firm.

Even if it's a Friday afternoon job that's no excuse.

And if it is the firm I think it is the staff are predominantly made up of Ozzies and Kiwis. ;)

The problem I have with people working like that is they give the industry a bad name. They shouldn't be working like this, it's dangerous and unprofessional.

I'm not worried about inconveniencing the public for a minute. Most people are happy to wait.

I don't appreciate been called a liar- we run a respectable, professional company. I was simply stating my opinion- there's no need to get personal!

Haha just tell it like it is, and I try to be all diplomatic and such. It does seem to be a lot of major fuss over a YouTube video, it's just some random guys video blog.

I'm all to guilty of trying to portray myself as professional, and that's because I want to be Mike, I'm sick of being overloaded and not just with chip also pushing towing capacities, sick of the just get it done mentality, and being rewarded for doing something stupid and dodgy.

But your right so few can honestly say they are perfect and by the book in everything they do, sometimes you just have to get it done.
