You should have stuck with the program Skyhuck and returned it at the right time.

However, I wonder how many Zigzag users don't use online forums and may still be unaware of the issue.

I think a manufacturer should be willing to accept all Mk1 in direct replacement for the new model. They don't need another accident hitting the headlines!

I had one of the original Trango Cinches that was recalled years ago. I didn't find out about the recall until quite some time later, but when I contacted Trango they asked me to send in the old one and sent me a brand new one promptly. I would think that Petzl might do the same.

Think ill stick to a lock jack and wait for a year at least to see if we have any more incidents. Always great to see new kit but with the failures, this is something the first few will be test piloting, regardless of the company's own controlled tests.

 

And it does look heavier than a lj ?. I personally cant see it performing better than a lj, tho im happy for someone to explain that has used one as i have not.

Mmmm, not sure they ever came out and accepted liability using that word exactly Huck, but it's interesting how things are worded these days.

 

Although they are trying to be very informative with the modifications that have been made, they have still put in their disclaimer. Copy and pasted;

 

"These two changes do not exempt the user from needing to be vigilant about the proper positioning of carabiners, whose strength is greatest when loaded on the major axis."

I know it's not quite the same, but i had an audi a3 that had a recall on a part. I got it done a few years after the recall was made.

I think they will replace huck's, it's not in their interest to keep a potentially dangerous piece of kit in use.

Petzl have withdrawn it, there should be no limits on time, if it had a problem then it has a problem now.
