Phone call from l/a

had a call today from l/a which is bradford for the yard regarding a waste carrying liesence they have observed my truck coming in & out of the yard & wanted to now if i had 1, & did i under stand my duty of care( we do i lock up every nite). he asked do you use skips if so keep dockits for 2yrs they now have a team watching tree sugeons trucks etc & are tracking them to see if they are using legit premisis or dumping in farmers fields etc ,so it would appear any body working in leeds/bradford area could be getting a call. anybody else had the call :thumbdown::mad1:

That's fine but it would give a better impression of them wouldn't it if they concentrated on dangerous waste rather than the easy target organic stuff, which could be regarded more as recyclable by-product then waste anyway.

Slight deviation here, but what actually constitutes a legal site?

The EA are not stupid. They just look in yellowpages, thompson etc.. and cross reference with their database of listed businesses. Then they know who to target.

 

Looking in directories is what the HSE have done in the past.

When working with trees, you are dealing with virgin timber, first source. You either keep logs or store the woodchip, selling both. You do not have to carry a waste licence as far as i am aware, i did speak to the Environment agency about this, however, if you also stick someones shed in the back of the truck and take it away with a view to chip, they will probably stop you, reason being the timber in the shed has been processed, ie cut, and then treated with preservatives. The preservatives are causing the agro. If you burn you waste you have to have a licence to do that. Taking a tree down, transporting it away and selling the by product is fine.
