To the untrained eye the best feature of a mature wellingtonia are the droopy branches that look a pain to get your rope over, the spongy bark can also be a give away but this also occurs on the coast redwood where the needles are more yew like.

Foliage is massively different ! Sequoia's foliage looks Moore like well spaced yew and welly's look more like a gigantic western red cedar IMO any way .. Welly bark is more red as well

Agreed, but the Wellingtonia is also known as the giant sequoia.

I could be wrong but I was always under the impression that Sequoia is a wellingtonia. Where the Redwood is a Coastal Redwood.
