cut tonnes of this stuff off a cliff top years ago, hated it and the thorns were top notch....

 

oh yeah and apparently you can turn the berries into a nice jam or something.

We got to work on a couple of these lately and have started to notice them in a few places as street trees (salt tolerant I suppose?). Lovely and spiky if you get to climb in it.

There is a caff up the coast at Amble that sells a very tasty Sea Buckthorn flavoured ice cream.

Sea buckthorn has small clusters of orange berries and an awful lot of spikes. The leaves are also smaller due them normally growing in much harsher coastal environments. Google sea buckthorn images and see the difference

I agree, I remember seeing Sea Buckthorn on Ray Mears the berries were very small and in very large clumps.

 

These berries look more like the ones you get as a garnish on desserts in nice restaurants.
