here is the jig i built to turn them.

the cutter is a 200mm long by 20mm square cobalt steel bit made by presto.

 

it took two hours to grind that profile on from square. knackered my wheel doing it.

Lovely grain in the wood. And good effort on making the kit to let you do it.

i had to make my own as everything i saw that you could buy was so weedy it was ridiculous.

 

i needed a strong bit of kit as i was going to put it through its paces.

 

the design is fairly simple when you look at it.

Hi Steve, really like your work. Do you know of any good books that tells you what the best timber to use for any given project, i've started playing around at making a few bits but only in pine ( and scaff boards ) lol, and its an area i really do need to brush up on.

i don't know about any books mate as for me it's all down to experience.

 

i'm happy to help if you have any questions on certain subjects but i never got books or dvd's to tell me how to do it i just got on with it and tried to use my common sense where needed.
