Most of the Scandinavian countrys have been burning it for decades if not centuries, wonder if hardwood is a snob thing in this country, Dave

Wish more people would wise up and start burning more soft wood. It's cheap, there's lots of it about and it heats really well. Many people think that you're trying to rip them off if you deliver a mixed load to them.

There are a few enlightened souls about though.

Agreed but the cord price differential is not that much, about £10 a tonne, so thats about £7 a cubic meter.

Providing its dry you will get no issues at all selling softwood.

I've always dumped lleylandii on the bonfire but ended up with soem coming in with a load of timber I bought in off a site clearance last year, so have kept it and burns well so anymore that comes in will now be going on the firewood pile :thumbup1:

If you leave leylandii outside, uncovered so the weather can get at it for a couple of years the sticky sap disappears.

Then cover for a year, split and burn.

You can of course fell, split and burn straight away but you will get covered in sticky sap and your logs won't burn very well.
