taking a reading from the side of any timber is not recomended. most moisture travels thru the ends of logs not out thru the side. take a reading from each end, and a middle and average.

Soz big beech, took a reading from the end and it was 10%, thought it may be showing off if i put that on :001_tt2::001_tt2:

Hi John,

I'd be interested in that PM or has it been lost in the system?

Its gone for ever in the system. Anyway you have no excuse your only just down the road so you can come and have a look you know your always welcome you might even find a big butt you fancy carving. It is far easier than trying to explain but if you want I can do another PM.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
