Is 1 cube equate to 1 dumpy bag?

Noooooooo

Sorry Steve this is a common misconception that comes up from time to time. Most dumpy bags are around 0.6 m3 at best. I suspect the bags mentioned further up the page are the vented 1m3 that are made for drying and delivering logs. Like these BAG Supplies Ltd :: Packaging Suppliers covering the UK and Europe

Any luck with getting a 6 ton load?

multiply the lengths 90x90x90 bags are 0.729m3

we sell currently £94.00 for 1 of these, we don't do bulk discounts 1 bag or 100 I'm going to charge £94 or it stays in the yard and we get orders from all over the country, I've shipped stuff down to channel islands and up to shetland. I do free delivery upto 150 miles with our own van as long as you buy upto 6 bags depending how far out you are. I can't get my head round selling a cube for £60 £70 I didn't sell this cheap 6 years ago. I do find customers rotate through the local merchants always willing to try the next cheap price but always coming back to us because of quality. I also charge £38.00 for the barrow bags I sell 5-600 barrow bags a year but I'd be happy not to do them at all most people who want these have the log store at the far end of a deep gravel path.

  • 1 month later...

After spending past few months processing firewood, now deciding it is worth a lot more than I thought it was in April when this thread started ....

Still not sure what the market will stand in present climate, but prices have been static for 3 years now and all our costs gone up, had to buy a new processer and tractor + repairs done on buildings machines etc etc.

Anyone with same thoughts?

I've had to put my prices up £10 a cube this year to cover the rise in costs. It's not hurt me so far with orders for this winter - I think folks are comparing to all the other commodities they buy, which are also going up of course.

Maybe it indicates my prices were too low to start with? Or perhaps it's simply a shortage of hardwood in my patch - it was certainly difficult (and expensive) to get hold of this year!
