Yep modded mine . Had 2 levers sticking up on a swivel joint so you had to push both together . Just tacked the swivel joint with some weld and its a one hander .

My "Thor Magic" has the "Leader" system, which allows one handed operation until the knife touches the log, then two hands are needed to get full force.

So you can steady the log until the knife holds it.

By far the safest option IMO.

Just look round at the APF, lots of missing digits.

Also two people operating a splitter is a really bad idea.

Thanks for the replies folks.

I tried wedging one side of the lifting bar on mine so that it pivots using only one handle, this works for brining the axe down but it won't raise. I have a plan for a better fix which will involve a welded pedal frame.

Completely agree that 2 persons on a splitter is a recipe for disaster!

I think it would be uncomfortable, but do no damage, the advertising pictures show it coming down on a football, there a slight indentation where it touches the ball.

mine is one handed and been since bought off ebay with no injuries. often have two of us working on it. me loading from one side and other on far side operating machine. after first session you get into nice work pattern and as long as sensible no risk, ie no hands between ram and knife ever.
