I think it's pretty clear from the pics that it will split apart eventually...how long it lasts in god hands.

 

You could pollard higher and brace it or 10-12ft from the base and let it go for a few years. You doing the work mate?

I'm more then interested in taking a look for you...as you know i'm only in LOgnford so not a problem...have you thought about reducing the weight then bracing the two stems together...just a thought...ooohhh, sorry just read the above, good call....
