I started reading this thread backwards, and thought, well £200 for a climbing lid, not to bad I suppose, all those times my ear defenders get snagged on branches and phonelines, it may prove a good investment.......... and then i got to the bit about it being a ground lid only! No sale here. Interested to know what the climbing lid will cost?£££££££?

Hi Guys and Girls...

Thanks for all comments and points raised on Protos Integral. It's all very useful feedback :)

It's really difficult to convey all the benefits (comfort and safety) of Protos over a website, so if you get the opportunity, get one on your head and try it out. Protos really isn't comparable to anything else that is currently available in our industry as the product takes on a completely new concept in head protection. From the very start, it has been designed to integrate all 'additional parts' (visor and muffs), so the instant difference you feel when the helmet is on your head is amazing...comfort and balance wise.

There will be a Protos video coming soon, so I'll post this up for you all to view.

In the meantime, the Protos iPad app can provide you with fuller info.

I have to agree with Taupotreeman. It's a lot of cash for something that has to be replaced every 5 years. Plus I would get sick of clients asking "where's the fire?" if I turned up on site with one of these on.

I totally disagree. Boots cost more and don't last as long as a helmet.

Comfort is the issue here, not style or cost. A cheap helmet is sweaty and wobbles on your head.

I've tried a Protos in the shop then stood outside in the breeze and I could feel the ventilation working much better than my Petzl. Not just my opinion as it was a real comparison.

This helmet represents excellent value for money in my opinion and I can't wait for mine to arrive.

Are there any major differences between the forest and climbing versions that you can see Tree spotter? Looks the same apart from the chin strap??

Personally i think they look awesome and very current to the standards of the fire n rescue crews. I have thought for some time that arb helmets are basic for what they need to do, and yes they work (to a standard as well) but so much more could be done with them.

These Protos are another level i think and something we will see more of in the future.

Price - i dont have a problem with it - how much do you value your head? And speaking with a family member of someone who had a bike accident and is left with a permanant brain injury, I know first hand how important head protection is!

Yes please Jonsie when you get one!!
