these are my boots Treetools | Meindl Air Stream Class 1 Steel Toe Cap Chainsaw Boots

they cost more than the helmet.

no idea why its better on the ground than your husky but for me climbing i dont think its an excessive price to save my head if the situation arises. The petzl range is damn cheap for head protection that will last 5 years or so, i think thats what makes this seem expensive. I think its pretty cool that Pfanner decided to say bugger the cost, lets reinvent the helmet. But yeah, not sure about the colour ranges.....

Don't think I could justify the expense when the Petzyls do a perfectly good job. 180 quid is an awful lot for a lid (yep, I get that it's your head) and are they that much better than a vertex? Even if they are they might want to tone down the garishness a little.

As far as ground helmets go; I couldn't go back to wearing one. Cheap head harness makes them uncomfortable and forever wobbling around on my head. The ones we had came without a chin strap or with this horrible cheap bit of elastic that hooked on to the helmet. Not only did they fall off every time I knocked it climbing a tree but also every time I looked up when checking on the climber.

And good boots are a must. It's not just about protecting your toes but also about long term problems associated with your feet, posture etc. ever seen what high heels do to women's feet, ankles and back?

Drew, I don't think it'll fit Mason's head bro :lol:he struggles finding baseball caps to fit. Anyway, budget is earmarked for a few other things come February. If I bought one of these I'd probably be laughing stock of Taupo. Can you see yourself turning up at Asplundh wearing one of these? Hmmmmm maybe I should get Mason one :laugh1:

We are delighted to announce, after many months of anticipation, the Protos Integral Forest helmet is now available in the UK!

The Protos Integral Forest with it's certification according to EN397, EN352-3 and EN1731, is a reliable partner for heavy duty action and extreme weather conditions from cold and wet to hot and dry temperatures. Thanks to the smart ventilation system, your head stays cool and dry. The high-tech visor offers maximum visibility and won't freeze even in extreme minus temperatures. The feature that makes Protos Integral so unique is the 'integral solution'...Protos integrates all crucial accessory parts (visor, ear defenders) within the helmet shell. This means that twigs, brushwood or other obstacles cannot get tangled up in the helmet. Protos is a completely new concept in head protection.

The Protos Integral Forest is available in the range of colours shown with a retail price of £165.00 ex VAT.

Please contact us to find your nearest Protos stockist.

Visit the Protos Austria website for full information and download the Protos iPad App!

(please note that Protos Integral Forest is not certificated to EN12492 standard and is therefore not suitable for use by arborists.

Protos Integral Arborist will be available early 2013).
