Found this today, never seen anything like it, Ash root found its way into a natural spring.  It’ll be interesting to see how far they go down that pipe when I go remove it.

Too deep in the water to put the saw in. 
It was a scenario that I had envisaged, so a deal was struck on the price. 
I retired semi defeated.

Wouldn’t a big winch rag the lot out? Or a 13 tonne plus excavator?

I see the harness didnt stop you falling in!

 

Might seem a daft question, why wear a harness on a boat or standing in a stream? Is it just for the convienece of stowing the saw?

Or to stop the boat floating away when you jumped out?

Yes to both questions. 
I don’t own either, so tried it with the avant winch and 2:1 pulley system. 
Not enough unfortunately.

To attach myself to the tree when  making cuts and organising the rope etc.  
But you’re right it was pointless.
