Stumping=wasted wood thus was felled too high in the first place.

Give it a rest mate. It does get boring when the same comment comes out everytime. Most people don't know the specifics of each job but still make the same remark. I recently felled a giant Sequioa at about 3 foot of the floor. First comment was ... Bad back, blah blah!

The reason for the high fell was to avoid it completely wiping out lower limbs on a mature oak as it was about a metre too close. Secondly when we were trying to cut it down ready to grind, there was so much crap in there we did in 2 chains of 48" from the 880 and screwed the chain on the smaller 36" bar. Probably 200 quids worth.

In hindsight I really wished I had felled it close to the floor first thing! ;)

Nice pics

I miss living by the sea in Devon but planning to move back down in the summer

Is there plenty of work in South Devon?

Ye mate seems to be, are you gonna move down this way or back to north Devon?

The base was potentially quite rotten which is why the stump was 6 inches too high! Its fine it just ended up being another bit of habitat. (someone who steals it's fire wood)

Tidy up this little mess from yesterday,

Bombed it all out last thing yesterday as was a nice evening and weather report said it'd pee down today so didn't fancy slipping around it today. About 8m2 from it all chipped up, poles felled by lunch and onto next tree
